Hidden depths

Hidden depths

This textured vessel began its life on my potter’s wheel.

  • Tactile vessel - rich craggy, textured, toasted-stone exterior, with contrasting glossy turquoise interior
  • Height: 10 cm
  • Method: one handed throwing
  • Combination of stoneware clays; dry halo copper glaze outside; turquoise & rutile glaze within

Much of my work starts on the potter’s wheel. I enjoy the tactile soft flowing nature of the clay and throwing rings, and how they ensnare the essence of fluidity and motion, of life and energy. This textured vessel requires a one-handed throwing technique - necessary to enhance the rich external texture.
